Truck vs. Overtaking car

Severe road accidents are detrimental to all involved, but in the case of a company owned vehicle being involved in a collision that results in lives lost, the investigations and penalties are more considerable.

Truck vs Car

Truck vs Car

On 27th August 2017 one of Pointers’ clients had a truck involved in an accident that resulted in 2 burnt out vehicles and an unknown number of occupants deceased. An overtaking car caused a head-on collision with a semi-trailer truck, and even though the truck driver attempted to swerve out of the way the 2 collided and erupted into flames, killing all the occupants of the car while the truck driver escaped. An incident like this involved police and insurance investigations and if it were not for the Pointer Accident Reconstruction report that the client had enabled, it would not be obvious who was at fault.

In this report you can see that the truck driver was rapidly slowing down by the before impact vs. at time of impact recorded here. You can also see that the point of impact was on the front right side, which indicates he was attempting to swerve out of the way of the oncoming driver. This clearly indicates that the truck driver was not at fault and will assist the logistics company in their insurance and police investigations.
